iVF Riga Embryology Laboratory

iVF Riga Embryology Laboratory is equipped with the most up-to-date technology from the leading manufacturer Origio. We use the newest diagnostic and laboratory technologies. This high-tech Embryology Laboratory is designed for IVF and ICSI treatments, as well as for embryo cultivation up to five days (blastocysts) and cryopreservation and storage of genetic material, namely, eggs, sperm and embryos.

Operational procedures conducted by the Embryology Laboratory have been developed based on the recommendations given by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and IFFS.

According to the Latvian law, the Embryology Laboratory guarantees to the patients of iVF Riga that their genetic material will be safely stored for ten years.

 

iVF Riga Genetics Centre Laboratory

In 2014, the first Genetics Centre in the Baltic States and Northern Europe was opened in Latvia, and it hosts a modern and technologically advanced laboratory, as well as provides a wide range of comprehensive genetic screening services such as:

  • Infertility diagnosis and pregnancy complications/missed abortion;
  • Genetic testing for hereditary cancer;
  • Lifestyle genetic tests – Viva Genomics.

All screening services provided by iVF Riga Genetics Centre are conducted in our laboratory, and you will receive a clear explanation and consultation regarding each test. For some of the tests, public funding is also available.

iVF Riga Genetics Centre is the only place in Latvia where pre-implantation genetic testing (PGT-A and PGT-M) can be performed in its own laboratory. We also provide these testing services to other clinics in Latvia and abroad. Other Latvian clinics send their genetic material for testing abroad.

 

iVF Riga Laboratory of the Centre for Stem Cells

Since 2016, the Centre for Stem Cells is the first and only national stem cell bank located in the territory of Latvia. All services are controlled and regulated according to the Latvian law; moreover, the patient can check any time that their stem cells are stored in line with the standard requirements. Stem cell collection, processing and cryopreservation are all conducted at iVF Riga Stem Cell Laboratory.

A certificate granted by the State Agency of Medicines confirms that iVF Riga Laboratory of the Centre for Stem Cells is licenced to collect and preserve stem cells in Latvia. Authorization No. AC-7 for the use of tissues and cells confirms that the Laboratory has been verified and meets the requirements set by the Cabinet Regulation No 1176 “Procedure for the Use of Human Tissues and Cells” adopted on 22 October 2013, and is licenced to perform laboratory examination, processing and preservation of stem cells in the territory of Latvia.

The pharmaceutical activity licence No. R00053 confirms that the laboratory run by iVF Riga has been acknowledged as a cell therapy manufacturing facility, it meets the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice, and is licenced to collect stem cells, to conduct their in-vitro reproduction, to freeze and preserve them for the purposes of manufacturing medicinal products for the newly developed therapy according to Regulation No 1394/2007 of the European Parliament and of the Council on advanced therapy medicinal products, Pharmaceutical Law, Cabinet Regulation No 304 “Regulations Regarding the Procedures for the Manufacture and Control of Medicinal Products, the Requirements for the Qualification and Professional Experience of a Qualified Person and the Procedures for the Issuance of the Certificate of Good Manufacturing Practice to a Medicinal Products Manufacturing Undertaking” adopted on 18 April 2006, and also according to the Cabinet Regulation No 800 “Procedures for the Licensing of Pharmaceutical Activity” adopted on 19 October 2011.
