Donor Programs and Genetic Safety

19 Mar

Donor programs offer an effective fertility treatment option for couples and women who require donor eggs or sperm to achieve pregnancy.

At our clinic, we place special emphasis on safety and genetic compatibility. Our goal is to help you become parents of a healthy child using the safest and most advanced assisted reproductive technologies (ART). Genetic testing is an essential part of infertility treatment, helping not only to identify the causes of infertility but also to significantly improve IVF success rates.

Studies show that approximately 50% of infertility cases are linked to genetic factors. That is why, since 2014, we have implemented extended genetic screening for all donors. We test donors for both chromosomal abnormalities and genetic diseases to ensure maximum compatibility between donor and recipient.

Why is genetic testing important?

  • Recessive disease carrier screening: All donors undergo comprehensive carrier screening for recessive genetic conditions. The partner is also required to take a blood test before IVF to exclude genetic matches. This approach significantly reduces the risk of monogenic diseases and increases the chances of having a healthy baby.
  • PGT-A testing: Enables the selection of chromosomally normal embryos before embryo transfer, improving the chances of a successful pregnancy from the first IVF cycle.
  • PGT-M testing (for monogenic disorders): If there is a known hereditary condition in the family, targeted embryo testing can be performed in our Genetics Centre laboratory.

Genetic diagnostics act as a safety checkpoint, helping to avoid emotionally difficult situations and providing confidence in your fertility journey.

Statistical data show that the likelihood of achieving pregnancy after the first embryo transfer with PGT-A testing is approximately 35% higher compared to IVF cycles without PGT-A.

If you have questions about donor programs or genetic testing, our specialists will provide a detailed consultation and help you choose the most suitable solution.
