iVF Riga Clinic offers a unique opportunity to perform colposcopy, the most accurate gynecological examination of the vagina and cervix, using a new generation high-resolution digital colposcope DYSIS (Dynamic Spectral Imaging System).
Dynamic spectral colposcopy (DYSIS colposcopy) is an innovative technology that can significantly increase the accuracy of examination and diagnosis of various tissue changes, precancerous conditions, and early cervical cancer, take biopsy samples and immediately prescribe a specific treatment.
DYSIS is the only modern colposcope with a built-in computer and patented software that allows computer-aided cervical mapping for biopsy and treatment with maximum accuracy.
DYSIS uses spectral imaging technology and a built-in algorithm to create an additional heat map of the cervical epithelium (DYSISmap). The DYSISmap is used in colposcopy to detect cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN).
Colposcopy is a diagnostic examination of the vagina and cervix using a colposcope, in which the doctor applies an acetic acid solution on the cervix and finds areas that may turn white using a magnifying scope. Whitening of the mucous membrane after application of acetic acid solution (acetowhitening) indicates the presence of abnormal cells.
A standard colposcopy uses simple visual observation, it is a subjective and technique-dependent examination. The computer-aided DYSIS Colposcope allows doctors objectively quantify the speed, intensity and duration of the acetowhitening effect by examining every megapixel of it, which is beyond the human eye. DYSIS then generates a color-coded map, highlighting the more intense acetowhitened areas. Such a map helps to pinpoint potential problem areas for biopsies. Also, the device is equipped with tools to fine-tune biopsy selection (digital markers).
The high efficiency of the DYSIS digital colposcope has been clinically proven in Europe, and it is being actively implemented for use in US clinics.
DYSIS Computer-Aided Colposcopy is in use around the world and is FDA-cleared, CE-marked and ISO-compliant.
Studies confirm that with the use of DYSIS Digital Colposcope, the detection of neoplasia (CIN 2 and CIN3) increases by 44% and 50%.

Colposcopy can be done at any time of the cycle, except for the days of menstruation.
The examination itself is painless, does not require special preparation and takes 15-20 minutes. However, before the procedure, you should refrain from sexual intercourse, as well as the use of vaginal suppositories, creams, tampons (for 24-48 h).
The results of the examination, together with a biopsy, can be obtained in about two weeks. Various cervical pathologies are quite common these days. Therefore, timely detection of any changes will allow you to start treatment as quickly as possible and prevent further development of the disease.
