iVF Riga offers artificial insemination programme with donor sperm.
iVF Riga has opened the first official genetic material bank in the Baltics, and we can offer frozen sperm from local, carefully tested donors, as well as from the European International Sperm Bank.
Sperm donation is a procedure that uses donor's sperm to allow couples to have their own child in cases where male sperm cannot be used for fertilization, as well as for single women who want to become mothers.
Egg fertilization with donor sperm is used in families with severe infertility in men, as well as when it is possible to pass a serious genetic disease from father to child. It is also a solution if a man has undergone radiation therapy or chemotherapy during the treatment of an oncological disease, as well as for single women.
According to Latvian legislation, men between the ages of 18 and 41 with good mental and physical health can become a sperm donor. Pre-participation tests are required: tests for infections, syphilis, AIDS, hepatitis B and C, gonorrhoea, trichomoniasis, as well as genetic tests (karyotype) and psychiatric tests.
Sperm donation is a completely anonymous programme. According to the legislation of the Republic of Latvia, potential parents may only be disclosed information on the genetic and anthropometric data of the germ cell donor (height, weight, skin, hair and eye colour, blood type and rhesus factor, level of education, diseases). No personal information about the donor and his photos are available.
