CHECK-UP programmes

iVF Riga Andrology and Urology Centre is the only andrology centre in Latvia accredited by the European Academy of Andrology.

Erectile dysfunction, difficulty urinating and especially infertility are signals that your body needs urgent help. If a man feels even the slightest discomfort, it is time to see an andrologist or a urologist, and it’s better to do it at once.

The iVF Riga Andrology and Urology Centre specialises in two areas:

  • General men’s health check
  • Check-up testing for infertility

What are the advantages of the check-up testing?

A check-up for a man is a complete examination which is organised in a manner that is the most convenient for the patient. The tests are performed one after the other, at a single location and as swiftly as possible. The doctor has an accurate plan, and the patient has accurate instructions. By undergoing the out-patient testing, you can have a detailed history within just a few days. Generally, the testing looks something like this: during an interview, the andrologist or the urologist will collect the necessary information about the current health of your urinary tract, sexual life and previous experience. The doctor will also ask about your lifestyle and habits, previous and current medical conditions. A full examination will be performed. And further testing right here in our clinic will be prescribed. From spermogram, hormone tests, blood tests to Doppler and ultrasound diagnostics, as necessary. The programme also includes initial and final office visits to a urologist or an andrologist, recommendations and the development of the treatment plan.

The check-up testing is done at our clinic to identify the problem at an early stage or even preclude its occurrence.

Urology Check-up Programme

1. Initial office visit to the coordinating doctor

(An office visit to an andrologist / urologist: an interview with the patient, examination, collection of medical history, evaluation of health, acceptance in the programme)

2. Tests (20 indicators)

(Full blood count, bilirubin, ALT, AST, glucose, cholesterol, hormones, PSA, vitamin D, urinalysis and other tests)

3. Transabdominal or transrectal prostate ultrasound scan

(A type of ultrasonography: the prostate is examined through the abdominal wall or via the rectum)

4. Penile Doppler ultrasound

The procedure includes determination of whether the penile arteries, called cavernous arteries, are functioning normally. Reduced blood flow in those arteries is one of the most common causes of erectile dysfunction, especially in smokers, overweight men and men with high cholesterol levels. Penile arteries are among the smallest vessels in a man’s body and that is why a cardiovascular condition may first manifest itself as problems with erection. During the procedure, the condition of the arteries is examined and it is determined whether it is the cause of the man’s erectile disorder or there is a risk of cardiovascular conditions, such as coronary artery stenosis or a heart attack. The procedure is painless and harmless.

At iVF Riga, the procedure is performed by Dr Juris Ērenpreiss, who has completed specialised training at the Florence and Rome University Hospitals.

5. Initial office visit to the coordinating doctor

(Explanations and comments of the coordinating doctor regarding the tests and examinations, the doctor’s opinion, recommendations, development of the treatment plan)

Programme price: 260 EUR.

* Based on the medical recommendations or the patient’s preferences, further office visits and tests not included in the programme can be added for an additional fee:
